Prof. Hauwa’u Evelyn Yusuf

Prof. Hauwa’u Evelyn Yusuf holds a PhD in Sociology and Anthropology from the Obafemi Awolowo University Ile- Ife Osun State Nigeria with specialty in Criminology and Gender Studies. Hauwa’u is a Professor of Criminology and Gender Studies in the Department of Sociology of the Kaduna State University. She was the pioneer director of the consultancy services arm of the Kaduna State University (KASUCONSULT), was Director Academic Planning of the University, she was the pioneer Dean of the Faculty of Education, Hauwau was the pionier Director Centre for gender studies Kaduna state University, She is the Special Adviser to theVice Chancelloron Research Cultureas wellas the Administrator of the Kafanchan Campus of KASU. Hauwa’u has 63 National and international journal publications as well as book chapters to her credit.

Her areas of research are Criminology, Sociology, Development and Gender issues to this end she is the CEO of the Center for Study and Resolution of Domestic Violence located in Kagoro, Kaduna State Nigeria, which is a product of her internship at various shelters for victims of domestic violence in IOWA United States of America. Hauwa’u is an IVLP Alumni who participated in the Women In Leadership exchange programme in 2008 and has received two grants from the US Embassy (Mitchell Obama’s Small grants 2011) and the Alumni small grants in 2013 for the empowerment of youths and indigent women in Kaduna State. Prof. Yusuf has served as lead consultant for several researches conducted in collaboration with UNICEF, UNWOMEN, WOMEN FOR HEALTH (W4H) and Malaria Consortium. Prof. Yusuf has served as mentor for community women and Civil society organisations in collaboration with dRPC and Christian Aid

Hauwau is the team Lead of the Kaduna State Active Squard Against Sexual and Gender based Violence (KASAS).  Hauwa’u has  established  her own shelter for victims of domestic violence.
